How Metal Edge Cases greatly reduced costs – A case study
A great example of the use of Metal Edge Cases is a major UK manufacturing company that uses both single trip and re-usable cases for Global After Market Parts distribution.
For this company the packaging is critical to the success of their entire operation. They operate 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to extremely high service level KPI's as the majority of the parts shipped are for a vehicle that is Off The Road or 'broken down' in our langauge.
Our Metal Edge Cases are used to carry any product to any Global desitination, and are also strong enough to have heavy items strapped to the lids making them truly multi-functional cases.
The shipment of these parts is mission critical. If they are not received within 24 hours of receipt of the order, operations would close within a day of the missed delivery. So, non-delivery is absolutely not an option. As a result of this urgency we carry high stock levels at our warehouse and agreed replenishment plans are automatically implemented as soon as minimum level is reached.
The reason they use the Metal Edge Case is that the assembly time for each case is measured in seconds for both one-trip and re-usable designs. The re-usable design gets used on average eight times, this could be increased if the return costs from deep sea shippemnts was cost effective.
